Trying my hand at a pet portrait in colour pencil

You will have noticed I have recently started drawing pet portraits (and one human!) in graphite. A friend approached me and asked me to draw her favourite photo of her daughter and her horse. I got out my pencils and paper and sketched in the outline ready for shading … then I sat back and
